Spring Class

Welcome to the Spring class page! Here you will find information on what we are learning in school. Your child should have taken home with their Purple Mash log in details to use at home, if you wanted to complete extra learning with your child. Please follow the link to access their purple mash account.

 PSHE

In Spring class, we aim to teach the children to identify their emotions and provide them with a range of strategies to help regulate their emotions, in order to improve their wellbeing. We have been looking at the Zone's of Regulation and continue to focus on the use of four colours to help children identify how they are feeling. The children have also been learning different ways to manage their emotions, based on which colour zone they are in. We have a large display in our classroom with the Zones of Regulation on, and the adults in the room refer back to this display during discussions with the children.

  English

In English, we are continuing to look at handwriting and correct formation of our letters and numbers. We will also be looking at the spelling of Common Exception Words and how we can learn these in creative ways! We will look at texts such as 'Peter's Pebble's' and 'The Greedy Zebra' and discuss our thoughts surrounding the characters and setting.

Phonics

In Phonics, we are focusing on our Phase 3 sounds and using these in our spellings. We have daily phonics lessons to support the child’s phonetic knowledge, which consists of engaging activities for the children to participate in.

Maths

In Math's this term, we are working on counting to 100, using maths resources such as counters, numicon and dienes.

Later on in the term we will also be focusing on 3D shapes and their properties, and we will compare and group 2D and 3D shapes.

 Science

In Science, we will be looking at the life cycles of animals. We will then move on looking at habitats and an animals adaptations to their habitats.  We will work scientifically to discover which habitats animals are suited to and start to describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of animals.
